The popcorn, richer in antioxidants than fruits and vegetables



The Popcorn, really good for your health, it is an affirmation of those scientists who find that it contains several polyphenols and healthy antioxidants in larger quantities than fruits and vegetables.

Professor Joe Vinson, a pioneer in the analysis of components of chocolate, nuts and other common foods, explains that the polyphenols are more concentrated in the popcorn, which contains on average about 4% water, while polyphenols are diluted in 90% of water entering the composition of most fruits and vegetables. This study found that the amount of polyphenols found in the popcorn is 300 mg per serving compared to 114 mg for a serving of sweet corn and 160 mg for a serving of fruit. One serving of popcorn provides 13% of an average consumption of polyphenols per day. Another surprising finding, researchers discovered that the hull of the popcorn-the very ones that get stuck in your teeth - have the highest concentration of polyphenols and fiber. The popcorn, the snack perfect: Because it is 100% unprocessed grains, not diluted with other ingredients with 51% weight of the product consists of whole grains. One serving of popcorn brings more than 70% of the daily intake of whole grains. However, on average, a person consumes an average; about half of the desirable portion of whole grains per day, popcorn could fill this gap in a pleasant way.
